Raychem Wire & Cable Building 307
Redwood City, CA

This new two-story manufacturing building adds a fourth to the existing three-building Wire and Cable Division campus. The basic tilt-up concrete building shell is complemented by subtle and unexpected design elements.

Double-height glazing allows the existing pedestrian walkway to continue through the new building. Exterior paving continues through and out the building on the other side to reinforce the sense of a continuous path.

An asymmetrical cantilevered loading dock canopy stands on one column. An oversized safety rail at the roof parapet elegantly finishes the building profile.

The outdoor eating area that we landscaped five years earlier remained so popular that we made a notch in the rectangular floor plan to preserve it.

Column bays are spaced to accommodate both manufacturing and warehouse functions stacked one over the other.
