Raychem Ultratec Division Manufacturing Facility Tijuana, Mexico

This is a very straight-forward building, which prides itself on being the nicest manufacturing facility in the city.

Starting with a basic tilt-up concrete structure, we took every opportunity for thoughtful intervention. Generous expanses of interior window allow the space to flow between offices, manufacturing and lobby spaces.

A no-frills industrial aesthetic operates throughout the building, with exposed roof joists and utility ducts used as design elements.

An exterior patio off the cafeteria helps to place the building in its Mexican context, with wrought iron grilles and a fountain of local stone. The interior artwork is all by contemporary Mexican artists.

The success of this building has been measured by the intense pride that the employees demonstrate for their work place.
