Brewster House Remodel El Cerrito, CA

This charming cottage-style house in the El Cerrito hills needed a face-lift and minor modifications to meet the owner's needs.

Modest additions to the original floor plan provided a larger kitchen and dining room for entertaining and holiday gatherings. The one-car garage became a two-car garage, and the main level acquired a wheel-chair accessible bedroom suite.

Most of the original structure was preserved, and the original exterior redwood siding was reused as paneling in the dining room. Materials were selected for recycled content, local production, durability, and low-VOC finishes.

Green features include daylighting, renewable/reycled content/reused materials, hydronic heating, energy-efficient appliances, low-maintenance exterior materials, and low-water landscape.
